Location: Anzio
We travel to nearby Anzio. The Anzio landings in January 1944 were designed to by-pass the Germans at Cassino and advance rapidly on Rome, but it became one of the most static fronts of WW2. Here, we visit the Anzio War Museum (recommended donation of a minimum €2pp), see the British War Cemeteries and see where the Allies landed. After lunch, we visit the Sicly-Rome American War Cemetery and Visitors' Centre, before travelling to our hotel in Cassino for three nights.

Location: San Pietro
This morning we journey to San Pietro, a small village in the crucial Mignano Gap, where American forces fought a tough battle in 1943. This is now a preserved battlefield site and we explore the ruins. While in San Pietro we visit the local war museum, please note there is an entrance fee of approx. €5per person. After lunch we see the Italian Cemetery at Mignano and the Monastery which was involved in battles 1 and 2 before moving onto the Polish War Cemetery. Please note that the visit to the French Cemetery at Venafro will not be possible due to access and safety issues.

Location: Cassino
Today we look at the four battles for Cassino and start by travelling up onto the impressive Monte Cassino, with some stunning views. Here, we visit the Bedford and Hertfordshire Memorial. We then look at the final battle for Cassino, in the Liri Valley and on the Hitler Line, before ending at the River Rapido, seeing the memorials. After lunch in Cassino, we visit Cassino War Cemetery and Memorial, the largest British and Commonwealth cemetery in Italy. This will then follow with free time in Cassino.

On our final morning, you will be tranferred to the airport for your return flight. Depending on your flight time you may have some leisure time in the picturesque town of Frascati near Rome.
